Hey guys, question. Is this rule applied in every church in Rome? how about men’s shorts, which are usually longer then women’s one..are they not allowed even if they go a bit above the knees?

Hi Richard, thank you for contacting EoR.

In Rome (in and Italy in general), the dress code follows a strict rule - as we said above, knees and shoulders must be covered. That said, there are some places of worship a bit more flexible then others. The Vatican is by far the most rigid, therefore we advise every visitor to be sure they have appropriate clothing before entering the Museums to avoid risks of no entry.

Regarding men’s shorts, if they go a bit above the knees this is generally not a problem.

Do not hesitate to contact us again for further questions or concerns.

    Kindest regards,

    Eyes of Rome Support Team
