I would like to thank you all for the amazing tours! Mara and Daniel from the office were super fast and my guide Silvia Monti was amazing!

We arrived late at the hotel and we waited till the very last minute, considering cancelling the evening walking tour as we were very tired. We are SO glad we did not. Silvia met us promptly at our hotel with a big smile on her face. She welcomed us to Rome and we felt warmed up right away. She has such a sweet and smiley face. Rome is beautiful especially at night! We got a lot of great insight on the what to see and do in the city. We had a late dinner at a great restaurant she recommended. I cannot remember the name but the food was awesome and cheap. All of the other guests seemed to be Italians- which was a very good sign.

The day outside of Rome at Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'este was especially magical. After the two villas we had a nice promenande through the streets of Tivoli with nice panoramic views of the valley and a small villiage feel. Best coffee of our trip in an amazing little cafe here.

However, the gem of our trip though was the Early Bird Vatican tour. Thank you Eyes team for recommending this one- we didn't know you could enter the Vatican 1 hour before everyone else!

Overall, the team at Eyes of Rome really came through for us, on short notice. Great booking experience, amazing history, and of course, our most lovely tour guide, Silvia Monti! She's the best!!

  • Ciao Sharon!!!

your words made my day :) thank you so much

I' m so glad you enjoyed our time together  and I can promise you that I feel the same: you are promoted as best guests ever. A 5 stars guest!

Now you just need to promise me to come back soon so we will be able to keep sharing crazy Roman experiences and a lot of gelato :)

    lot of love <3

hi, I like the itineraries proposed here. would you recommend to switch tivoli with pompeii? I've been reading about the two sites and they kind of look the same to me.

    Hi C.C

thank you for reaching Eyes of Rome out and thank you for your question. Even though the two sites can appear similar, and in fact they are in certain extent, they are also very different. Pompeii is a whole ancient town, is well known and many people go to visit it everyday. Unlike Pompeii, Hadrian’s villa it can be said that is a roman gem, known by the locals and very well preserved too. The advantage of visiting Tivoli is that the tour includes Hadrian’s villa and villa d’Este (some of the best fountains in Italy!) and they are 40 mins away from Rome city centre. On the other hand, Pompeii is 2.30 to 3 hours away from Rome towards the south of Italy. Therefore, much of your decision will be made according to how much time you have in Rome. If you are planning a day trip from Rome we recommend you Tivoli, if you instead are planning to stay a few days or at least one night down south, then Pompeii tour is worth. You can read this article for further information regarding these tours.

We hope this has answered your question and please do not hesitate to contact us for further questions or concerns. We hope to hear from you soon!

Hello, I was looking at your suggested itineraries for two full days in Rome. They look very interesting! regarding the full day in Hadrian’s villa and villa d’Este, will we be provided with lunch or lunch is on our own? In case there isn’t, can we bring sandwiches or it is better not to?

    thank you!

    Dear Timothy,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

For the full day tour in Tivoli including Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana please consider a total of 6 hours. As this is a private tour, your guide will adjust the pace and content according to your very own personal preferences. It is totally up to you whether you'd like to include an additional hour for a lunch stop in one of the many restaurants in the area, such as the famous Sibilla restaurant, or if you'd rather bring your own lunch.

We do instead include lunch at a restaurant with a view for the Castel Gandolfo tour. You can also join our community to follow discussions and suggestions.

Here's the link to Castel Gandolfo community page.

When booking the tour, just specify your preferences to our booking managers and they will be happy to assist you and give you all possible options.

I hope I was able to answer your question and please feel free to contact us if you need any further clarification.

    Grazie,

    Mara

It was the fifth time with my husband in Rome, and we wanted to do something different this time. We took a tour of Rome in the XX century, and it was worth every single penny! The Coppedè quarter and the house of the Owl were my favorite part, the architecture is breathtaking! I believe the guide is also essential to enjoy a tour, so thank you Gianluca!
