Someone told me about this course. It seems so interesting and I'm excited to start today.. I studied architecture for 5 years and I know this will open up my mind to the incredible structures the Romans built like the aqueducts. I really want to finish that BBC doc cause they go into the sewers which I've never seen before. Does anyone know if there are underground tours that talk about these parts of Roman history? I know some of the most beautiful catacombs are centered around christianity but it would be cool to know more about the times that Rome had many gods.

I read about this on the Guardian! I really hope they think about continuing this course even after its finished. Adam I agree I've heard about ppl exploring the cloaca maxima but I don't think it would be easy to find government permission to do that.. maybe look into visiting places like the Roman Houses of Celio! That way you can have a sense of what roman life was like without it being centered around the christian catacombs

Yeah exactly the only times I've seen someone going underground or even participating in excavations are professionals but I think it would open up a really unique side of tourism. I highly suggest signing up for the course cause I've been taking it for almost 3 weeks and It's mind blowing, I always undermined the complexity of ancient civilizations. Totally changed my perspective.
